Everyone who volunteers in the HEB ISD must complete a background check form - this is done to ensure safety of all students. It’s easy to sign up. Simply go to the hebisd.edu website and click on the “Volunteer” towards the bottom of the page. This will take you to the VIPS page. For new volunteers, click on “new volunteers”. Background Checks can take up to 72 hours to go through. If you are a returning volunteer, click on “returning volunteer” to log your hours. Also, for every $5.00 donated, you accumulate 1 volunteer hour. Make sure you choose LD Bell as your location for the volunteer hours and donations. Volunteer badge information is attached for new volunteers and those with background checks that have expired or will be expiring in the next 30 days. Your student was issued a marching uniform, shoes and gloves. Cleaning and care instructions are located on the labels inside the uniform. Please make sure to wash uniforms after each performance and store at all times on hangers in a garment bag. Contact Vickie Wild at [email protected] with any further questions.
Got stuff in your garage or your house or your closets you have been planning to get rid of! Bring your used or unwanted items to Pennington Field on Saturday, August 26th between 9:00am-11:30am. BUBB Fundraising will take the items off your hands, and the Band Boosters will receive a check for those unwanted items. BUBB Fundraising provides innovative fundraising solutions with a unique multi-item recycling program, which provides a simple, highly profitable, environmentally friendly ongoing fundraiser. So, while the band is practicing at Pennington Field on August 26th, bring those unwanted items to the BUBB truck in front of Pennington Field and we will help you unload everything into their truck. Please check the attached complete list of items BUBB will accept and share this fundraising event with your friends, neighbors and coworkers. Items may be in any condition – damaged, non-working, or fully operational. Also, at any time during the year, you can contact BUBB Fundraising if you have items at your business to donate. Checkout our spirit wear tables at the band events and booster/parent meetings. Contact Deana Woods ([email protected]) if you can assist with Spirit Wear or have any questions.
There’s always a need to feed the band during competition season. Please donate and deliver cases of water, small bottles of Gatorade, and pre-packaged snacks (cookies, breakfast bars, crackers, etc.). These items will be stored for upcoming events. In addition, for every five dollars donated, you’ll receive a VIPS volunteer credit hour. For more information, contact Amy McGuire at [email protected] or Gerry McGuire at [email protected]

All parents that chaperone for the band must be district-approved volunteers. It is easy to get approved. Go to www.hebisd.edu and click on the red apple with VIPS on the bottom edge of the screen and follow the instructions. We provide chaperones to all away football games and competitions. Band aides are junior high students who assist with the band’s needs during football games. They ride the bus, assist as needed with water, getting the band on the field, or whatever else may be necessary. It’s a great way to get a jump start on learning what marching band is all about. March-a-Thon 2017 will be the Band’s 25TH annual fund-raising march through the residential neighborhoods of Hurst and Bedford with a lunch break and two community concerts along the route. Donations are through individual student pledges and contributions received along the parade route. Sign-up sheets for the following volunteer opportunities will be available at this booster meeting and on CHARMS. For additional information please contact Mona Kurtz at [email protected]
Volunteers are needed to:  Walk the parade route and collect donations  Assist with lunch: set up, serve, and clean up  Assist with water breaks, set up, serve, and clean up  Monitor the band along the route  Donate and deliver water, Gatorade, grapes, watermelon, chips, cookies, coolers with ice, bread, hot dogs, chips, cookies and a few more items that are listed on CHARMS.
Volunteers are still needed to help with this enormous event. Please go to your CHARMS account and sign up for a shift. We need lots of parents to make this event successful. Borrowed ice chests filled with two bags of ice are also needed (please put your name on them). Many positions are available. For questions please email Mona Kurtz ([email protected])
The Silent Auction runs in conjunction with Pizza Feast. This is a huge fundraiser. Donations of baskets, gift cards, services, etc. are needed for the auction. Each section will be assigned a themed basket, so please check with Deana Woods before putting together a gift basket. We also need baked goods for the dessert table. In addition, we are looking for businesses that may be interested in making a donation. Please contact Deana Woods at [email protected]
Thirty drumlines from bands across the Metroplex attend this contest to compete and receive feedback from highly qualified drumline adjudicators. Many volunteers are needed…from parking lot attendants, to gate monitors and ticket sales. Go to your CHARMS account and sign up for a shift to help. Many bands from around the state attend our HEB Marching Contest. Both LD Bell and Trinity bands
march in exhibition. Numerous volunteers are needed from parking lot attendants, to gate monitors to
ticket sales. Go to your CHARMS account and sign up for a shift to help. We need lots of parents to make this event successful. For more information contact Marc Kline at [email protected] or Tonia Kline at [email protected]
Please consider driving now because there is a district process for approving drivers. What is required to be a truck driver?
 A valid class “C” driver license  You must be 21 years of age  You must have a clean driving record  You must attend the Truck Driver Orientation Meeting There is no required or expected amount of driving per volunteer. We drive to band practices, football games, and competitions. Away football games come with maps and the trucks stay together. Do you like to take photographs? If that’s you, and you would like to join our photography team, please contact Wendi Armstrong at [email protected] Your eye, your talent, and your camera will be needed to help collect photos at all events for the band yearbook. With your input, we will put together a schedule so all areas and events are covered. There will be a yearbook planning meeting occurring in the near future. Nichole Hill (Color guard Mom) is coordinating some big sewing needs this season. We will need help with a fabric prop project. If interested in volunteering contact Nichole Hill at [email protected]
Timely payment of fees is very important to the success of the band. There are ample opportunities to pay fees in person, by mail, or through PayPal.
DO NOT give your payments to the band directors. All monies should go directly to the Treasury team.
If you are paying in person, have your check ready before you walk up to the collection table. To expedite the collection of fees, please put your child’s name and grade on each check. Once a booster meeting starts, we stop collecting money. The volunteers need to hear what is going on at the meetings. When the meeting is over, we will re-open the collection tables.
If you choose to pay via PayPal, please be sure to add the 3% before you type in the amount. You do not get a second chance to add the fee once you have pressed the submit button.
