■ In the past two weeks, at least three change.org petitions came up globally, asking Unilever to drop the cream from markets in Asia

■ Several FMCG companies are concerned about their brands after 'Black Lives Matter' protests across the globe ■ Recently, the US healthcare giant Johnson & Johnson stopped the sale of its skin-whitening creams globally, including India. ■ Similarly, the French cosmetics giant Loreal has also decided to drop the words, 'white', 'fair' and 'light' from all its skin products
‘Colourism’ is perhaps the most visible form of racism in the subcontinent

Birla High School hosts CBSE Sahodaya Principals’ Meet

Corona both a bane and a boon for mankind
C orona virus, one of the deadliest viruses for mankind, has threatened lives across the world. Lakhs of lives are being lost and many more are getting affected daily. It spreads very fast by contact thus forcing the world to go under lockdown. Children can't go to school and are missing the lovely moments spent in schools.
Everybody is missing their friends and relatives due to social distancing. People are compelled to spend days without work under great anxiety and uncertainty. I feel sad and helpless when I read the news of people and animals dying of hunger. I feel angry thinking of those dishonest, selfish people who are unwilling to help the havenots. The memory of my school, my friends, my teachers bring tears in my eyes. Yet, there is another side of the coin.
Due to complete shutdown of normal life, the environment is healing. Pollution levels have dropped resulting in healing of the ozone layer, less melting of ice, timely arrival of the monsoon and a less harsh summer. All these positive signs are taking nature back to its basics.
I hope we will recover from this grim situation and go back to normal lives very soon. The pandemic has given us an opportunity to reflect on and correct our mistakes.
- Sagnik, Class V, Adamas World School
United against the virus
A world war has begun not among countries, but now the whole mankind stands united against the Corona virus. The weapons used in this war aren't rifles or tanks but lockdown, quarantine, social distancing, masks ,sanitizers etc.The frontline warriors are the doctors and nurses.
We are afraid of it because life may be at stake as no vaccine has yet been discovered. It spreads through touch, droplet of saliva and surface transmission.
Proper lockdown is the only way to fight it. But so many have lost their jobs. We should extend our helping hand to them. The economy of many countries including India is on the verge of collapse.
Every cloud has a silver lining. Yes, mother nature has got a scope to replenish herself. Think positive, build up immunity and be fittest for survival. Stay home, stay safe for your family, for your country.
