Dear Class of 2022:
You hold in your hand access to increase your college opportunities and decrease your financial burden as you pursue your dreams of post-secondary education. To support you in your efforts, the District has compiled this book detailing the scholarships only available to the students of the Yonkers Public Schools.
Community organizations and individuals that believe and generously sponsor our Yonkers scholars; want to see them excel in college. Each organization makes the final determination as to award recipients. In addition to these opportunities, there are countless others available to our graduating seniors. Therefore, it is not only important for you to carefully review this booklet with your parents/guardians, but you should also specifically confer with your school counselor regarding ALL the additional national and state scholarships accessible to you. Your school counselors will also guide you through the diverse forms of financial aid assistance.
In addition, the Naviance program (www.naviance.com/) is a useful tool for college and scholarship searches, and, more importantly, the completion of online scholarship applications. Use your Naviance accounts to support you throughout the college process. If you do not have access to your log-on information, see your school counselor in the Guidance Office.
The Yonkers Public Schools is ready to work with you and your family to achieve your career and college goals. Our schools are educating students to meet the challenges of an economically competitive, technologically advanced, culturally diverse, and knowledge-based 21st-century global society. This book is one of many tools available to help you achieve a meaningful post-secondary education.
Best wishes for your continued success.
Sincerely,
Dr. Edwin M. Quezada
