National Testing Agency conducts UGC NET exam twice in a year. UGC NET 2020 will be conducted to determine the eligibility of the candidates for the post of assistant professor and junior research fellow (JRF). UGC NET Eligibility Criteria

An aspirant needs to fulfill the UGC NET 2020 Eligibility Criteria to apply for the exam. Your application will be rejected if conducting authority will find that you are not eligible for the exam. Candidates can check UGC NET Eligibility criteria in the following table.

Required Marks Must have secured a minimum of 55% marks (50% for ST/SC/OBC/PwD) in the Master’s degree in streams such as Social Science, Humanities, Computer Science & Applications, and Electronic Science.
Qualifying Exam Aspirant should own Master’s degree or its equivalent from a board or university recognized by UGC.
Appearing Candidate Candidates who are in their final year of the qualifying exam can also apply for UGC NET.
Age Limit Criteria There is no age limit for the position of Assistant Professor. However, in the case of JRF, the age of the applicant must not be more than 30 years as on January 1, 2020. 5 years of relaxation is given to reserved candidates.

For LLM Degree possessing aspirants, 3 years of age relaxation will be given.

Those who have served in the armed forces will be given 5 years of age relaxation.

UGC NET 2020 Application Form

National Testing Agency will release UGC NET 2020 Application Form for June session on 16th March 2020. The application form for UGC NET will release in online mode. You will have to visit the official website to apply for the exam. In the online form, you will be asked to enter your personal details like Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Email id, Address, Mobile number, etc. You also need to upload scanned photograph, signature, thumbprint and various documents in the prescribed format. Candidates have to pay the below application fee as per their categories:

  • For General Candidates – Rs.1000
  •  OBC- NCL Candidates – Rs.50
  • For ST/SC/PwD Candidates – Rs.250

Admit Card

Hall Ticket is the most important identity proof for the candidates to take entry in the examination hall. No candidate will be allowed to take entry in the examination hall without admit card. NTA will release UGC NET 2020 Admit Card on 15th May 2020. It will available on the official website of UGC NET. Candidates will require application number and date of birth at the login portal to download admit card.

Exam Pattern

Check exam pattern for UGC NET 2020 in the following points.

  • Exam Date: In the second week of July 2020 for July Session and the third week of December 2020 for December Session.
  • Exam Mode: Online CBT Mode
  • Number of Papers: There will be two papers for the exam – Paper I and Paper-II.
  • Number of Questions: Total of 150 questions will be there in the exam paper. 50 questions in Paper I and 100 questions in Paper-II.
  • Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Language Medium: English and Hindi
  • Time Duration: Paper I will be of 1-hour duration while Paper II will be of 2 hours.
  • Total Marks: Paper 1 will be of 100 marks and Paper-II will be of 200 marks.
  • Marking Scheme: 2 marks for each correct answer and there will be no negative marking.

The syllabus for the different paper will be different as per the subject concerned. Candidates can check full detailed UGC NET Syllabus 2020 at the official website. Check previous year questions paper to know the exact pattern of UGC NET exam and important topics. Paper-I will contain questions based on General Nature and Teaching/Research Aptitude. This paper will be designed in a manner to assess the candidates’ reasoning ability, divergent thinking, comprehension, and general awareness. UGC NET 2020 Paper 2 will contain various topics from the subjects selected by the candidates. These topics will be related to Bachelors and Masters level syllabus.

UGC NET Answer Key 2020

After completion of the exam, the board will publish the answer key. With the help of UGC NET 2020 Answer key, you will be able to calculate your marks in the exam. Answer Key will contain correct responses of all the questions which will be asked in the test. NTA will release UGC NET Answer Key in online mode just a few days after the examination. Various Coaching Institute release answer key on the same day of the exam. But these are not 100 percent authenticate. You will have to wait 5 or 6 days for the declaration of the official answer key of UGC NET.

UGC NET Cut off 2020

Candidates must score minimum cut off marks to qualify the test. The minimum qualifying marks are cut-off for a particular year. Cut off may be different from one year to another as it depends on the number of applicants appeared in the exam, difficulty level of the exam, subject, seat availability, category etc. Check UGC NET 2020 Cut off Criteria in the following table.

UGC NET 2020 Result

National Testing Agency will release the result for UGC NET exam in online mode. You will require registration number and date of birth at the login portal to check your result. The conducting authorities will not send the result of UGC NET separately to any candidate via post, mail or any other medium. You will have to visit the official website to check your result.

UGC NET Selection Procedure 2020

Those candidates who will qualify the UGC NET 2020 exam will be considered as eligible. You have to score minimum qualifying marks in order to qualify the test. The conducting authority after assessing candidates’ performance in the written test will prepare a merit list which will be later published on the official website. Different universities or institutions will consider candidates’ marks or rank for the post of Assistant Professor and JRF. Top 15% from each category and subject will be declared as eligible for Assistant Professor profile only.
